Aldwych Theatre to welcome musical ‘Top Hat’ from next year

Top Hat Aldwych TheatreThe show ‘Top Hat’ will be making its West End debut next year at the Aldwych Theatre in London. The production will open 9 May 2012, following previews from 19 April 2012.

The musical follows the story of Jerry Travers, a famous tap dancer from America who travels to London to perform in the West End. While in the city, he meets the girl of his dreams (Dale Tremont) and follows her across the continent to try and win her affection.

Former Holby City star and Strictly Come Dancing winner Tom Chambers will be taking on the role of Jerry Travers, while West End regular Summer Strallen will play Dale Tremont. Other cast members include: Martin Ball as Horace Hardwick, Vivien Parry as Madge Hardwick, Stephen Boswell will portray Bates and We Will Rock You star Ricardo Afonso is cast as Alberto Beddini.

The show is directed by Matthew White, who also co-adapted the story for the stage with Howard Jacques. The music and lyrics are by Irving Berlin, choreography by Bill Deamer and design by Hildegard Bechtler.

Top Hat is produced by Kenny Wax, Stewart Lane and Bonnie Comley, Ted Hartley, Flora Suk-Hwa Yoon and Lee Menzies.
