Forgive me being an old cynic but as you could well have read on this blog we have had our kitchen all re-done, everything new and it all started to come on line around the beginning of May … and so now, before the end of July, we are having to start calling in the engineers …

The back door has sagged and now clunks as it closes and is starting to get damaged as a result …

The Hotpoint washer/dryer has three large plastic agitators on the inside of the drum one is ok, one is loose and making a noise and one has half broken off and is flapping loose and making a lot of noise … what is more, I discover that the holes in the drum that are used for fixing these on have very sharp, rough edges — not a good idea in a washing machine if you want to keep your clothes in one piece … hardly inspiring from a £400 machine …

Finally, so far, the left hand digit of the timer on the Ikea Framtid combi oven has started to go off .. I mean you cant tell if its 3 minutes or 13, or 23 …. of course, if you lightly tap the front it comes back on but that’s hardly the point on a £490 piece of equipment now is it …

But you know the worst thing … I’m not even vaguely surprised, I kind of expect this sort of quality, in fact I nearly just shrugged and left them like that but heck they’re NEW … sad isn’t it …

Oh yes, and to fix the washer dryer I am going to have to take off the skirting boards as it is built in and it was a damned tight fit …
