A new STAR is born

Old STAR Logo

Well, not so much new as revamped. STAR, the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers has today launched to the trade a new logo which you can expect to start seeing across websites from today onwards.

The new logo emphasises the fact that STAR represents the authorised agents for tickets, i.e. agents and retailers who deal exclusively in tickets that they have been authorised to sell by the event ‘owner’ as well as providing a “kitemark” safety indicator allowing the user to purchase with confidence. STAR members must have terms and conditions that comply with the STAR guidelines and users who have an unresolved complaint against a STAR member can turn to STAR to help arbitrate.

You will be able to click on the new logo to verify that the website in question is a member of STAR.

STAR’s campaigning position is now supported by around 95% of the legitimate authorised ticket market as well as by other organisations such as SOLT (The Society of London Theatre), The Concert Promoters Association and the National Arenas Association. STAR is also working closely with Operation Podium, the Metropolitan Police’s task force set up to protect the economic well-being of the 2012 Olympics who are also trying to develop techniques and information to allow better detection and disruption of future ticket-based fraud in future.

Dynamic Listing Ltd, the operator of SeatChoice and other related theatre ticket and concert ticket comparison websites, is an Affiliate Member of STAR and will be changing its STAR logos, descriptions and guidance over the coming days and weeks – we have also moved SEE Tickets and Ticketline from being Primary Suppliers to full STAR Members now that they have joined.

A full press and consumer launch of the new logo will be held on 5th September 2011 by which time many, if not all, STAR member websites will be using the new kitemark.
