London welcomes back award-winning musical, Floyd Collins

Glenn Carter and Robyn North have been cast in the lead roles for Floyd Collins which opens at the Southwark Playhouse on 22 February.

The show is based on true events and is set in 1925 Kentucky. The story follows the tale of Floyd Collins, one of the world’s greatest cavers who always hoped to find fame and fortune. When an expedition goes awry, leaving him trapped 55 feet underground, his predicament makes national headlines.

Glenn Carter (Floyd Collins) is quite the musical theatre veteran, with lead roles in shows such as ‘Jersey Boys’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, ‘Grease’, ‘Dreamboat’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ on Broadway, the West End and on the big screen.

Robyn North will star as Floyd Collins’ wife, Nellie. North is no stranger to the stage either, having recently finished a three year stint as Christine Daae in ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’, even appearing in last year’s 25th anniversary celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall. Robyn has also starred in ‘My Fair Lady’, ‘Master Class’, ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and ‘Rebels And Retail’.

Other cast announcements include: Ryan Sampson and Jane Webster (The Sound Of Music and The Phantom Of The Opera).

The Tina Landau and Adam Guettel musical will be directed by Derek Bond and will run until 31 March.
