Seems like our gas supply has been bodged at some point … poo. Gas from the mains to our meter is ok, but inside the house it’s still the old lead piping (yes, even in the library with professor plum) which is (a) illegal and (b) too narrow to power all our gas appliances at once …. and our jolly old gasman, in fear of losing his corgi (or whatever it is now) wont connect to it, but will replace it (at a price to be determined once he’s spent a day in the crawlspace and knocked down some underfloor walls!) …. oh well, it is an old house and nothing much else went wrong – anyway, we have no other options.
