Day 10 – Diving

Photo

We had booked a half day of diving for our time in Sorrento but had been wondering if we should go ahead. In the end, fortunately, we did. This meant a reasonably early start and driving over the top of this peninsula to Barracuda Diving in a camp site in Nerano. We left ourselves plenty of time to get there, fortunately as the road over the mountain was horrendous – very narrow, steep, in poor condition and with lorry, moped and car hazards everywhere. Needless to say, we didn’t return that way after the dives!

Normally on a diving holiday we take all our own kit. This time, as it was just one day, we only took masks, fins and Fran’s dive computer so we hag to get kitted up by the dive centre. Tanks, BCDs, regulators and a 7mm semi-dry for Robert and 5mm semi-dry for Fran. Walked down to the jetty where we were met by a semi-rib and set off – not far. Over the two dives we saw octopus, moray, nudibranch, barracuda, star fish and plenty of schooling fish. Nice trip. Took lunch by the beach in Nerano which was lovely then home for a well earned snooze.

With the a/c now on pretty much all the time the car is down to 3.4miles/KW and the steep hills are really taking their toll – KERS helps on the downward parts but still today we went from 97% to 87% and may need to charge again before leaving this area.

A quiet evening “at home” – still no news of Tsarine …
