Day 7 – In Rome, Day 2
The room at this hotel is somewhat strange – not least the hot water. In teh afternoon the hot water runs cold, in the morning it doesn’t run at all. More accurately, here on the 6th floor, it runs when no one else is showering in the building! We also had to get more toilet paper and they change all the towels every day. Whatever, this is our last full day and breakfast was good(ish).

We had left getting tickets to the Colosseum rather late but managed to get some guided tour ones, which turned out to be self guided and include the Forum where we looked for the cats and found none, but lots of people. We don’t remember it being this busy last time we were here. Had a nice lunch and walked to Basilica di Santa Maria in Aracoeli to see the wooden baby carving – a lovely church, put a candle at the feet of St Francis for Tsarine!

Back to the hotel to change then out again in our glad rags for an evening of opera arias and Italian music in a church with dinner afterwards. The music was excellent, the meal far less so – they could barely be bothered to serve us. The metro was closed for maintenance so came all the way out on a rather crowded bus.

Still no news of Tsarine but my recent parking violation has been overturned!
